Sibley's New Mexico Campaign
Published in Hardcover by University of New Mexico Press (October, 2000)
Average review score:

Sergio Leone based his film on this Civil War CampaignGeneral Sibley was in charge of the Confederate Army that invaded New Mexico in 1862. This book is very informative and is very good reading from the same author of Sibley's biography. General Sibley drank a bit! On the field he actually won the battle, but being pre-occupied he stretched his forces too thin and got his supplies severed. He eventually lost the campaign. If he had been sober he had a good chance of real victory. The battle, which took place between Confederate and Union forces at Glorietta Pass, has the distinction of the Civil War battle fought at the highest altitude. This bit of Civil War history never makes it into the books. In "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" directed by Sergio Leone and featuring Clint Eastwood this is the Civil War campaign that the film is based around. General Sibley's name is mentioned in the film.

Sin Nombre : Hispana and Hispano Artists of the New Deal Era
Published in Hardcover by University of New Mexico Press (October, 2001)
Average review score:

Must read for all who love the art of the SouthWest.A few years ago, a brilliant and talented student found a gap in the recent art history of New Mexico. She went out and conducted the research, raised the money, wrote the PhD thesis, and then was curator for an exhibit at the Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe that identified and saluted the artists whose names had been lost in the dusty archives of our Great Depression and the resulting New Deal. The exhibit changed the lives of the artists still living and assured artistic credit for those who are no longer with us. How many of the thousands of PhD theses produced since Dr. Nunn wrote hers have had any impact, let alone a major impact on the lives of people? This beautiful book is climax to Dr. Nunn's efforts.
Most people will never have the opportunity to be charmed and enlightened by a Dr. Nunn lecture. This book is a wonderful introduction to what a committed individual can do to make modern art history come alive. It is also a very useful introduction to the art of New Mexico created by the true artists of New Mexico, not the visitors (temporary or permanent) from other parts of the country. The Hispana and Hispano artists of the New Deal look straight at us from the pages of this book not for our approval but with pride in the art that they have created. Fortunately for us, Dr. Nunn, the Museum, and the University of Mexico Press have taken the time to reproduce this art to let us share in their joy of creation.

These books have region-specific information about zoning, laws, conacts, and permits. Also a comprehensive phone and address list is included. This book takes care of you step by step in starting your business, and keeps you from having to talk to the wrong people or wait in the wrong line.

A thorough historical review of early Spanish language pressNot only does this book provide a complete historical perspective, it also highlights (through quotes and themes) the social issues facing early Hispano-American settlers. Ironically, these issues continue to have present-day relevance to those impacted by cultural and societal differences.

So Far from Heaven
Published in Hardcover by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins Publishers (September, 1973)
Average review score:

A rare gem...This book came to me by way of my grandmother. It is one of my most prized possessions. It follows a period in the life of a burned-out executive who finds what he's been looking for -- even though he didn't know he was seeking it. If you can get a hold of a copy, be sure to read this book. It encompasses the passion and staunch traditions of New Mexico -- a state that hasn't quite lost it's edge when it comes to family, hearth and home.
